Therapeutic Frameworks Utilized with Clients:
Kelly’s approach is grounded in non-judgemental mindfulness and compassion. She values ongoing learning, and has completed trainings in the following:
EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, is a form of therapy which has proven effective in the treatment of post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic stress disorder, helping the brain to unlock stored emotional content and process it. The effect is the ability to remember traumatic events without the disturbing, overwhelming content that accompany them and are the source of distress.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy addresses maladaptive thinking and beliefs, helping clients to develop healthier, more realistic ones, freeing them from unnecessary emotional distress.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy helps clients, not by delving into the content of their thoughts and emotions, but by learning to have a different relationship with them. Through cultivating compassion and an observer stance, the negative power of thoughts becomes neutralized.
Internal Family Systems works with conflicted inner parts, helping the person understand each part’s function and purpose through the authentic self – the self that is curious, compassionate, and courageous.
